Welcome to our

Forest Studies Programme

What makes forest school unique is its emphasis on learning outside of the traditional classroom and having the freedom to explore the ever changing environment, to take risks and “assess risk for themselves” (Lindon 1999)

At Primrose Hill, we’re proud partners of the Forest School Association and passionate advocates for outdoor learning. We believe that regular time in nature is not just refreshing—it’s essential. Studies show that exploring the natural world boosts children’s educational, mental, and physical development.

From EYFS to Year 10, our students head out weekly to our designated Forest Reserves, where they take part in curriculum-linked activities that nurture environmental awareness and promote habitat conservation.

Our Forest Explorers depart Primrose Hill at 9:30 AM in our private transport and return by 3:00 PM (traffic permitting), with forest activities running from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

To join in, children must wear the proper uniform and bring a clearly labelled water bottle.

We can’t wait to welcome your child to the forest—where learning comes alive!

The rise in Forest Schools in the UK reflects a growing desire for parents and educators to educate their children about the natural world around them. Developing the child’s holistic and experiential learning. More and more parents and educators are seeing the increased benefits of Forest Schools and the positive impact they are having on children nurturing their resilience, creativity, communication, problem-solving, and cognitive skills. As more people recognise the importance of Forest Schools, the demand for these innovative educational settings will grow which is what we hope to bring to Malaysia!

Forest Schools offer a dynamic and enriching learning experience rooted in nature. Children engage in a wide range of activities that promote physical, emotional, and intellectual growth. Outdoor play is a key focus, giving children the freedom to climb, build, and unleash their imagination through creative play in natural settings. Nature exploration allows them to discover local flora, fauna, and ecosystems firsthand, fostering curiosity and a deeper connection to the environment. Risk-taking is encouraged through carefully assessed challenges like tree climbing and den building, helping children develop resilience, problem-solving skills, and self-confidence. As the seasons change, so does the learning—children observe and interact with nature year-round, gaining an appreciation for its rhythms and cycles. Environmental education is seamlessly woven into these experiences, instilling values of conservation, sustainability, and respect for the natural world.
